The Practice of Self-Care

Self-care is important as well as necessary as part of our human journey. Listed below are some of the reasons why we should take some time for ourselves and practice the art of self-care.
*Self-care is important to maintain a healthy relationship with yourself as it produces positive feelings helping you walk around the world a little lighter.
*Self-care is necessary to remind yourself and others that you and your needs are important too.
*Self-care anchors you in kindness and love for yourself--allowing for you to be better equipped to send out the love to others.
*Self-care is grounding during times of stress. Taking a few moments to take care of yourself can help you come back to the present moment.
Here are some simple, yet effective ways to nurture your wellbeing with a self-care practice:
1. Nourish your body with healthy food options: fueling your body properly can help you maintain the energy you need throughout the day.
2. Move your body: take a yoga class, dance class, or whatever it may be that you enjoy allowing yourself to move.
3. Take a bath: allow some time and space for yourself knowing that it's okay to be still. It is in that stillness that you will start to naturally feel more relaxed.
4. Get enough sleep that is required for you: feeling rested allows you to stay more focused and a sense of well-being overall.
5. Walk outside: connect with the earth, try walking barefoot outside on some grass. When you walk barefoot on grass, the level of endorphins (feel-good hormones) in your body increases and helping to reduce stress.
6. Let Go of Unwanted Things: clutter--frees you to focus on what brings you joy.
